Personality Colors

Yesterday I had been to my 1st HR Meetup in NYC. I reached a little late and the room was filled with HR professionals. We had a 2 second introduction and then we moved on to a guest speaker. Her name was Shoya Zichy. She has written two books and she mentioned about interviewing Hillary Clinton.

Anyway, she had a 5mins presentation and then she put us in a group excercise. This excercise was about recognizing your's and others personality and how to approach different personalities. There were 4 colors. Shoya had given a brief introduction of each color in her 5 mins presentation. We had to decide which color we belonged to. We then broke up into 4 groups, each group had its own color. The colored groups were Red, Blue, Green and Golden.

The first excercise was to identify the strengths, blindspots, what turns you off from the other groups, appreciate the positives of the other group and what do we need from the work environment to be successful. I thought this was a pretty good excercise. Well, I belonged to group Red and I was so surprised to see people in my group having the same thought process. I mean everything I think, behave and felt was somehow expressed by someone even before I could open my mouth....hmmm that's funny.

What does Red color really means ? okay, it means that we are a aggressive personalities, want to do many things at once, always take up challenges, problem solvers, ready to jump into anything, not afraid of taking risk, messy desk, love to spend time with the family. We are the make it happen type of people. We worry more about today then think of yesterday and tomorrow. Tomorrow is a new day and will bring new problems, let's solve the problems we have at hand today. We don't like structures.

According to other colors we are not organized, we don't plan, we react first and then think. we don't follow plans and structures.

In conclusion, its good to know what color you belong to and what color others belong to but what I feel is a person goes through different emotions and with that there is a possibility that he/she could change colors. I understand these colors define a persons personality but what if the person is in a bad mood, can we then predict the behaviour of this person as per his color ?

More on my next visit, untill then peace be with you.
